McCall & Payette Lake
Just two miles from the River Ranch gated community, and accessible directly via the extensive area bike trail system, you will find the town of McCall and the shimmering expanse of Payette Lake.
McCall radiates the charm of an Old West town with a modern twist that combines to make it one of the best outdoor adventure basecamps in the world. From the hiking, biking, and skiing opportunities of the local mountains, to the world-class whitewater rapids on the Snake River to expansive wilderness accessible by horse and plane, this area will perpetually quench your thirst for adventure.
Lapping at the edge of town is Payette Lake which is eight miles long and two and half miles wide. Half of the lake is protected as part of the Ponderosa State Park; within which are 1,000 acres set on a peninsula that juts out and into the center of the Lake. This 5,330 acre playground is filled with clean glacial water and surrounded by camp sites, hiking trails, and the unspoiled characteristic beauty that mirrors the environment of the McCall community.
Payette Lake is ideal for water enthusiasts who crave glass-off conditions in the morning and evening and a sailor’s delight during the height of the day. Paddle boarding, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing enthusiasts share its sandy beaches, pristine water, and fresh mountain air throughout the warmer months.
