Now everyone can enjoy a little time on the lake aboard “The Idaho”, a 65 foot, 90 passenger cruise boat.

Mile High Marina is a great place to come and spend the day! Rent a ski boat, pontoon boat, jet ski, kayak or standup paddle board and enjoy a beautiful day on Payette Lake. Not into water sports, kick back and enjoy a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or a cold beer on the deck.

The Payette Lakes Ski Club Lodge at Little Ski Hill is located three miles northwest of McCall. This community-supported ski area offers something for everyone, with over 50 km of groomed skating lanes, touring trails and 405 vertical feet of alpine terrain!

Ponderosa State Park covers most of a 1,000-acre peninsula that juts into Payette Lake, just outside McCall.

The Tamarack Nordic Trail system offers a variety of trails that wind through open meadows and forested paths with towering pines. Choose your own adventure through the groves of Aspen, Fir and Tamarack trees on your classic or skate skis, Fat Tire Bike or snowshoes. Regular grooming program ensures multiple kilometers of optimal terrain throughout the season. Nordic Trails are open every day from dawn to dusk during the ski season.

McCall Area Fishing

 McCall sits in the heart of Central Idaho’s Blue Ribbon trout fishing. Five major river systems and over 300 lakes provide the perfect habitat for some of the best trout fishing found anywhere. Rainbow and Native Cutthroat Trout are the premier species in the McCall Area. Brook Trout, Lake Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Brown Trout, and Grayling are also present.

The spectacular streams and small rivers of the Payette, Salmon, and Weiser River systems originate from the high country all surround McCall and offer unlimited possibilities for river fishing. McCall is also encircled by hundreds of pristine alpine lakes and fly fishing hot spots; trophy rainbows and cutthroats are found at the end of many of our best hiking trails.

Steelhead – one of the world’s premiere game fish – is the prized fish of the Little Salmon and Salmon Rivers.

McCall offers great access to this world class fishing. These ocean-going rainbows grow to over twenty pounds and challenge even the best angler.

 

Cascade Area Fishing

Cascade Lake is popular for fishing in the summer time and for ice fishing all winter long. Perch, Rainbow Trout, and Coho Salmon can be caught at Cascade Lake from the shore or by boat in the summer or through the ice in the winter months. With 92 lakes and 169 streams within a 50-mile radius of town, Cascade offers a wide variety of fishing opportunities.

McCall Air also has extensive backcountry flying excursions for white-water rafting, hunting, hiking, and camping fun. Scenic flights are available year-round as well. If you think Idaho is beautiful from the ground, wait till you see it from the air!

The McCall area has over 4.5 million acres of forest that wrap around its charming town. The Payette National Forest surrounds McCall with 2.3 million acres of rugged, forested, and remote land. This spectacular land is bordered by two of the deepest canyons in North America – the Salmon River Canyon on the north and Hells Canyon of the Snake River on the west.

On the eastern border is the Frank Church Wilderness area that covers 2.4 million acres – the largest wilderness in the lower 48 states. There are plenty of opportunities for day hikes, backpacking, fishing, rock climbing, river running, and swimming.  The wildlife viewing opportunities are abundant and include some endangered species such as the Gray Wolf, Chinook Salmon, Bald Eagle, and Peregrine Falcon.

Mining has seen booms and busts since gold was discovered in Warren Meadow in 1862. During the late 1800’s, up to 1200 Chinese lived in the Warren Area and built terraced gardens that are unique to Idaho.
