WATER Lots and lots of water – Perhaps the single most significant natural feature of River Ranch is water. Based on results of their earlier land survey, the partners restored water courses and wetlands affected by 80 years of grazing and flood irrigation to create year-round streams and lakes, and then ensured that the majority of the Ranch’s homesites was either situated on a lake or river-front, or included a river view. Where does this water come from? With historic annual flood rights to a depth of two inches on the entire 458 acres – which equates to 24,873,326 gallons of water – combined with a redundant well system capable of generating more than 120,000,000 gallons of water per year, every effort has been made to ensuring River Ranch will have little trouble staying lush and green in even the driest of years. These systems help to ensure the lakes – which incorporate a closed design circulating more than 12,000,000 gallons of water every day – are full and fresh for fish and plants adding to their beauty and your enjoyment while canoeing or dipping your feet from your private dock. |
